Plot: 40 points
The plot was pretty good! Can’t say it’s one of my favorite paranormal books, but it was OK. I really liked the parts when Deznee was trying to explain to Kale how certain things are not socially acceptable, since he hasn’t really experienced the world.**SPOILER** Like the part when he holds her hand and she tries to explain to him that only couples do that and he doesn’t get it… so adorable!!! And the kissing…oh em gee…so cute! But beware of the second book called Toxic. Something really sucky happens and you won’t want to read the book! I’m sure everything is fine by the 3rd book, but I’m warning you…you might not like the 2nd book! I stopped reading it.
Characters: 13 points
I liked both Dez and Kale, except that Dez was kinda hipster-punk or something. Streaks in her hair and piercings and stuff. I like Taylor Swift looking characters I guess LOL. Kale is adorable though. Look at the cover!
Names of characters: 1 point
Deznee sounds like a mixture of Dead and Knee, and Kale reminds me of lettuce. Um…NO. LOL.
Writing/Depth: 25 points
The writing was pretty good! Some humor and lots of adventure. Maybe a little too much adventure, and not enough relationship development. On the upside, Accardo did a good job portraying Kale as someone who hasn’t experienced the world at all. Those parts made me smile :)
(PS: If you like this book, you can read the second book Toxic (like I said...BEWARE!), and I think the third book will come out eventually).
