Title: Puddle Jumping
Author: Amber L. Johnson

When it comes to love there’s no such thing as conventional.

Everyone thinks Colton Neely is special.

Lilly Evans just thinks he’s fascinating.

Once friends when they were younger, their bond is cut short due to her accident prone nature and they go their separate ways. Years later, they meet again and Lilly learns that there is something special about the boy she once knew, but she has no idea what it all means. And she’s not sure if she’s ready to find out.

When he walks through the corridor of her school the first day of her senior year, she knows that it’s time to get to know the real Colton Neely. The more she learns, the deeper she falls.

Their friendship grows into love, even as Colton does not express it in words. But one decision threatens to break down the world that Lilly has tried so hard to integrate into and she must figure out if the relationship can survive if they are apart.

Wow... JUST. Wow. I'm not sure this book even belongs on my blog because it's so special and sentimental. But after I read the summary, I knew I needed to read it.

And I'm so glad I did.

In a couple hours, I might add, because it's only 128 pages. I didn't feel cheated though... I felt everything that needed to be said was said.

This book has a unique plot in that the main characters go through lots and lots of obstacles due to one of the characters being "different." Special, if you will. Having a relationship with someone with those kinds of difficulties in real life would be very, very challenging. Though I don't believe it would be impossible.

Lilly does the very best she can to show Colton how much she loves and cares for him... with very little in return. And even when the going gets tough, she sticks around and decides to learn and tough it out. That is so very admirable... some people won't fight for relationships that are much easier! Not in books, and especially not in real life.

So that's what I loved about this plot... I loved it's uniqueness and I loved how special this book really is. It's not like any romance book I ever read. It's focus of the book is not really the romance part, but the dedication, hard work, the learning experiences... the FIGHT. Great plot and a must read!!!

I'll admit that I needed more from Colton at times... just a little bit more. A tad bit. Just enough more to give Lilly a little more strength. Because she keeps pushing with very little help from Colton. I would have been nice if he had changed a little more and supported Lilly a little more. But that's not what his uniqueness entails... so the book portrayed a very honest picture of them both. I loved both of them though... I really did. I loved how much they connected and needed each other, and how patient Lilly was. Beautiful characters!

Johnson did a great job with this book! I'm really not sure if it's based on a true story or not, but the plot was very unique and beautiful.. truly a heart puller. Hadn't read any of Johnson's books before, so this was a first for me. The book was considerably short... that much I have to mention. I'm not sure if I could have used more, but I think maybe the book should have been cheaper in that case. But at any rate... I don't mind supporting the author, as the book was very well written! There is a bit of humor throughout the book, and just a lot of real, raw emotions. All in all, I think Johnson did a wonderful job!
