Series Info: Wait for You #2
Author: Jennifer Armentrout (J.Lynn)
Teresa Hamilton is having a rough year—she’s in love with her big brother’s best friend, but he hasn’t spoken to her since they shared a truly amazing, mind-blowing, change-your-life kiss. She got out of a terrible relationship. And now an injury is threatening to end her dance career for good. It’s time for Plan B – college. And maybe a chance to convince Jase that what they have together is real.
Jase Winstead has a huge secret that he’s not telling anyone. Especially not his best friend’s incredibly beautiful sister. Even though he and Teresa shared the hottest kiss of his life, he knows that his responsibilities must take priority. He certainly doesn’t have time for a relationship. But it doesn’t help that all he can think about kissing the one girl who could ruin everything for him.
As they’re thrown together more and more, Jase and Tess can’t keep denying their feelings for each other. But a familiar danger looms and tragedy strikes. As the campus recovers, the star-crossed couple must decide what they’re willing to risk to be together, and what they’re willing to lose if they’re not…
Plot: 35 points
First of all, I need to preface my review by saying that I read this book within the span of maybe 6 months due to being really busy with other things. Once I stop reading I usually have a hard time starting again for some reason. But also... If the plot is really good... I usually can't put the book down regardless.
So was the book good?
It's honestly hard to say. It really did take me a LONG time to read it. Was it as good as 'Wait for You'? No. I didn't think so. And I say that because, as much as I tried, I couldn't put 'Wait for You' down. I found the plot of this book to be a little overly emotional. There were so many emotional circumstances that it made it hard to enjoy the book. You would think falling in love with your brother's best friend would be confusing and emotional enough. Not in this book! Not even close!!! The drama and trauma never ended... and it got progressively worse!
I did, however, like the idea of falling in love with your brother's forbidden best friend. That was the best part of the plot! The way their relationship progressed was a little weird though. Off and on, not really understanding what they were feeling, not being sure of what they were going to do... it was a lot for me. The really hot moments clashed with the really cold ones a bit.
And about those really hot moments... some of them were well written and some of them didn't seem very deep. Maybe it was just the amount of time it took me to read this book that made it hard to write a decent review. But one thing for sure, it wasn't my favorite JLA book. In this series or otherwise.
My favorite part... the very last 3 words in the book :)
I can't really say I disliked the characters or liked them. They were kind of neutral for me.
Jase: Jase was great when he was great, and not so great when he wasn't great. He was very indecisive about Tess due to some things in his past (and present), and also because of Tess being Cam's sister. I think more the former than the later. Great body? Check. Charming? Check (when he wanted to be). As hot and charming as Cam in 'Wait for You'? Negative LOL.
Tess: I think I liked Tess a little better than Jase. She knew what she wanted pretty much from the start and wasn't afraid to go for it, regardless of the circumstances. I guess that's kinda how girls are in real life though. She got hooked and wouldn't let go. She wasn't too annoying about it though, which was nice. Sometimes the female characters annoy me with how engrossed by the male character they are.
Both characters didn't strike high in the humor category. I may have chuckled a bit, but not as much as I did reading 'Wait for You'.
Writing/Depth: 27 points
I always think JLA does a great job writing in depth with tons of emotion and creativity. I have to say she still did pretty good with this book, too. With all of the emotional scenes she choose to write, she did a great job making you feel everything the characters felt. Maybe not as great as all of her other books, but still pretty good! Could have used a little more humor... the humor is what I love about JLA and I didn't see as much as I would have liked.
TOTAL: 76 POINTS!
