Title: Sentinel
Series Info: Covenant #5
Author: Jennifer Armentrout
It's a beautiful day for a war.
As the mortal world slowly slips into chaos of the godly kind, Alexandria Andros must overcome a stunning defeat that has left her shaken and in doubt of their ability to end this war once and for all.
And with all the obstacles between Alex and her happily-ever-after with the swoonworthy Aiden St. Delphi, they must now trust a deadly foe as they travel deep into the Underworld to release one of the most dangerous gods of all time.
In the stunning, action-packed climax to the bestselling Covenant series, Alex must face a terrible choice: the destruction of everything and everyone she holds dear… or the end of herself.

Overall, Armentrout did a great job writing the plot for this book! We see some more Gods show up (some really cool ones), and the strategizing and fighting was written very well. We even see a titan in this book! JLA never ceases to amaze me with her Greek Mythology incorporation :)
In the end of the Apollyon book, there is something "inside" Alex that we had to wait until Sentinel to find out what it was. I have to say that what it turns out to be was a little disappointing for me, but I guess I had a hunch that it wouldn't be what I thought it was initially. It would make things pretty complicated if it were.
The end of the book was also not what I expected. I guess I didn't really expect anything in particular, but I don't know...it wasn't the most impressive JLA book ending I've read. I had pretty high expectations for the last book though, so that could be why. I had to minus a couple points there. The actual last battle, however, was pretty stellar!
There is another death of a covenant character in this book...JLA always kills off someone important. I hate death scenes and I really wish it didn't happen...but it's a realistic thing to happen. To go into a major war and not lose someone would just be too cheesy. Still didn't make it any easier.
The love, dedication, loyalty, and strength of all the characters really shines in this last book though! There were some really great scenes that match or top scenes from her other four covenant books.
Alex continues to show her maturity and dedication to her covenant in this book. She's still very stubborn at times, but that's what makes her Alex.
Aiden is the same awesome boyfriend as he was in the previous books. It's hard not to love Aiden! Still my top book crush.
Seth is a lot different in this book...he has to make some tough decisions and sacrifice a lot to do what he chose to do. I wasn't sure what was going to happen with Seth...was he going to stay sided with Lucian and Ares (either because he had to or because he wanted to), or was he going to find (or make) a way out to get to the good side of the war? I honestly didn't know what was going to happen to him by the time I finished Apollyon. You'll have to read to find out!!!
Writing/Depth: 30 points
(same as Apollyon book)
JLA reigns supreme in this area!!! I really can't get enough of her writing. I teared up from happiness, sadness, excitement, fear, love, and badass god-ness...all in one book!!! There is so much adventure in her books, and the perfect balance of seriousness and humor.
TOTAL: 97 POINTS!
